The company makes more than 1,000 kinds of analog integrated circuits, including interface transceivers that help PCs communicate with peripherals and devices, power management circuits for handheld electronics, and power regulators used in industrial controls. It also makes photodetector chips and laser diode drivers used in optical storage systems. Sipex's electronics customers include Dell, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Motorola, Philips, Samsung, and Siemens; its top distributor is Future Electronics (43% of sales). Exar has acquired Sipex through a stock swap transaction.
