I have been working at 22squared full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Most of the people doing the work are great. Depending on account, decent work life balance. Nice office space. People in Tampa genuinely seem happy.

    Cons

This place has changed so much in the last year or so. The new CCO hasn't been able to bring in any substantial work and the agency is falling apart. His blatant disregard of the women in the office and his tendency to "look past them to their male partners" is often a topic of conversation. It's become a boys club, and you better be on the inside of that club. It's not good for the rest of us. I've also seen multiple older women be let go over the last few years, only to have their positions re-hire shortly after the "layoff". Not sure how there hasn't been a lawsuit yet. Everyone is trying to jump ship and all of the Atlanta advertising community knows it. Its been a race to leave and people speak of it openly in the office. Politics between the CCO and the home depot account have torn the agency in half. If you're interviewing at the newly formed Trade School, good luck... In general, the agency is not a creative-first agency (though they will tell you differently) and the work is sub par. Pay is lower than most of Atlanta.

I have been working at 22squared full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Some of the people are amazing.

    Cons

Some of the people are terrible, power tripping, your performance is more of a popularity contest of perception and rumor mill rather than your actual contributions, dedication and work product. People are overworked and under-supported with unrealistic expectations. Management is quicker to blame than support and assist in problem-solving.

"Proven Potential with Persistent Challenges Like Any Good Agency"

    4.0

I worked at 22squared full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

    - The people are hands-down their most valuable asset. They are some of the smartest and thoughtful I've ever worked with. - Ambition is a very close second. 22squared aims high and works hard to be great. - The client roster is solid. A great place to get good retail brand experience. - Opportunity for learning and growth is there but it really depends on where you are in the agency. - They invest in emotional intelligence and helping people work better together. - They are thoughtful and do their best to infuse meaning in the work they do. - They are judicious about the clients they take on. - They stand up for their values when they are being stepped on.

    Cons

    - Compensation isn't the worst but it could use some modernization especially at the individual contributor level. - Creatively they could push themselves a bit further. Too many, "it's like the Whopper Detour, but different." - Their ambition can have a negative impact on employees who simply want to be really good at what they do instead of focused on a steep trajectory. - Traditional and risk-averse business leadership makes it hard to do simple things. - Creative work can be stifled by hefty legal and compliance requirements. - Process obsession will invariably delay action. - Easily distracted. They jump from initiative to initiative without allowing any single effort to add real value to the organization. - Culture is more of a platitude than a hard asset. The people make up for what's missing here. (to be fair, maybe that's how it's supposed to work?) - Toxic people are allowed to flourish if they've got a good sales pitch. - Internal communication is thoughtful and well-intentioned but terribly executed about 70% of the time. - For the love of all that is holy, do something about all the meetings. - Their challenges are relative to their environment. Compared to some agencies this place looks like Wonka's Chocolate Factory (the Gene Wilder version before they lost all those kids).

Purpose-driven work Great people, clients, office space and culture that nurtures employees.

As in any creative or client service company, deadlines and workload can be stressful. But leaders here care. The work-life balance is better than any other place I've worked.

    No Opinion of CEO

    I worked at 22squared

    Pros

The people were very stimulating and creative team was top notch.

    Cons

Low resources on some accounts given scope negotiated with customer. AM and Media drive business and use analytics as a subsidiary instead of a critical element in driving value to the customer
