      Pros

      Cons

Nothing which isn't seen in other large companies. There can be a lot of meetings and decision making can be slow

I have been working at ACCA full-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

ACCA provides an opportunity to work with a global professional community, and to shape Accountancy practice around the world. It has a large number of highly intelligent, passionate and diligent staff. A highly capable and principled executive team. Strong camaraderie among most teams. Great work/life balance.

      Cons

Inept and inert senior management act as a buffer and filter to the Executive Team . Team. A culture of over-promoting long-serving staff into senior roles for which they have neither the aptitude or experience, rather than recruiting "outsiders". As a result, many senior (and middle) managers are primarily concerned with defending their position and are highly resistant to change, innovation or risk. Incredibly hierarchical...

I have been working at ACCA full-time for more than 5 years

      Pros

People are easily impressed with who you work for, well only in the accounting world atleast. Up until recently you could expense travel and other misc items fairly easily. You do not get hassled for deadlines and every decision is by committee and consensus so you can distribute the blame. There are some real interesting reviews on here. I guess if you work in admin or call center you are immune to the office politics...

      Cons

There are other reviews that have pointed this out but sometimes it feels like you have to brown nose and socialise with the senior managers. Otherwise you will not get promoted or included in meetings that you really should be in. Occasional 'watercooler' comments disparaging about our overseas employees, feel like you need to clean yourself after you hear it. Some managers can be bubbled in their job as though their...

      Advice to Management

Reform by employing more real managers rather than just have senior managers promote their friends. maybe use peer review from other departments to stop this rot.

People are great to work with and is an organisation looking to do this differently

I worked at ACCA full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Focuses heavily on well-being and follows this through, I have been in companies who say this a lot and never follow through so this was refreshing to see Supportive management, had some really difficult times and my manager really helped me Great counselling service provided Development opportunities are incredible, been there less than 2 years and have helped other departments If you need any help there is always...

      I worked at ACCA full-time

      Pros

Great location. Flexi time. Nice office.

      Cons

On the outside ACCA may appear as a good place to work. Their management endure the right boxes are ticked. The reality is very different. - Management incapable of making decisions - Horrendous stench of superiority as though ACCA are a charity as opppsed to merely offering a qualification - Ridiculously hierarchical. Documents having their author altered to someone of a more senior level was common - Nepotism....
