Pros

Dog-friendly, coworkers (esp. on video team) are talented, owners/founders have good intentions (although fail to follow through, read more below)

Cons

I'm just here to warn you that most of the five star/positive reviews on here use verbage that I've only ever heard management/HR frequently use (NOT a coincidence). As someone already mentioned, these positive reviews are fake and any former/current employee would spot the inauthenticity. Management is pretty bad. Workplace conflict goes unresolved or becomes cut-throat. There is hardly an attempt at resolution when it comes to work conflict because of the politics embedded in the company culture. HR is gossip central. Management has favorites. If we report management to HR, we actually face retaliation in the form of microaggressions. Work/life balance is also not really present, especially as of recently, as I heard there was a change in the vacation policy. Deadlines were already stressful enough. The balance was needed. Also, this place portrays itself as a champion for diversity and inclusion. That is...a tough one. Although the founders of ATTN: are truly great people who intend to have a diverse and inclusive company, their management and HR teams fail to execute their intention. I really wanted to love working here. I miss the coworkers and some of the aspects of the company culture, but my mental health had to come first and working for this company was just not good for my well-being.

Pros

They pay money, this is true.

Cons

No one can tell you why this company exists; it's motto ("Stories worth your attention.") has nothing to do with its business model, which is inscrutable; and the only positive reviews on this site are fake.

Pros

You can build a great portfolio in different areas of media with different kinds of content. This company is growing quickly so there is an opportunity to get in on something at the ground floor as it's being shaped. Generally speaking, the "worker bees" here are great and fun. If you care about politics and social justice, you could have the chance to make content that is truly meaningful.

Cons

Likely because there are so many young managers, this company is incredibly disorganized. There is a lot of time wasted because there is a lack of systems in place for content creation and management of people. Considering there are no unions in this company, it takes a very long time to address problems with problematic managers. This company is supposed to be dedicated to a mission of social justice, but it does not practice those values within the company itself. I actually don't think the founders or head of editorial truly care about the stated mission, but instead push it as a brand for appearances. The pay is low and unequal. People who voice their opinions against the the men who run the company, or their favorite employees, can face retaliation. This happens despite the superficial "interest" in hearing from a diversity of opinions. Politics are everywhere, but here they play too large a role in who is rewarded, who is not, and whose concerns are heard.
