Pros

Colleagues are friendly and are helpful. Free lunch (sometimes).

Cons

Management. Top to bottom. Management here puts too much stock in fulfilling KPIs to please upper management; often at the expense of their employees. Everything must meet KPI, no exceptions. Doesn't matter how unrealistic it is, "I say jump to the moon, you'll do as you're told" essentially. As expected, high turnover. In my department, at least one will leave every year. Every daily meeting is essentially a 2 hour session of the manager berating their employees on how they're screwing up the bottom line. Every little mistake magnified and blown out of proportions. Managers shouting at their employees during daily meetings is common and prevalent in some departments. And to top it all off, they have the gall to say that "this is not for me you know? This is for YOUR benefit! I am TRAINING you!" Barely any on-boarding. Your orientation is a couple of slides of HR policies and safety. After that, you're given a laptop, assigned a monitor and immediately asked to do the full-extent of your jobscope and then some. No easing in at all, it is full-throttle from the get go. Doesn't matter whether you're a fresh graduate or a professional. OJT is sink-or-swim. Their definition of 'teach' is simply go through the task at full speed and then expect you to demonstrate perfectly. Every little mistake is met with "is this what I taught you?" or "what did I tell you just now?" in a very condescending tone. It is essentially negging until you're considered trained. Management is typically gung-ho and not in a good way. Product not coming fast enough? They expect you to supersede the front-line staff and do the job entirely by yourself. Even interns are expected to do as such. Little to no communication, Often, there are times where they already did the work for you, before you even know what happened. Then you'll get berated for not doing the work "sooner". Generally expected to answer messages, even if on leave. Management does not trust their employees. CCTV cameras can and will be used against you. Standing around? Prepared to get a message from management questioning why you're just standing around. Act busy is the way of life here. To top it all off, this goes all the way to the top. Directors and VPs will also do the same to the manager. Have you ever watched Office Space? Just imagine that everyone above you is Lumberg. So much for the "A*STAR spinoff" company. From a GLC to an SME. Oh, and the salary is below market rate. AWS is generally crap at engineer level and below.

Cons

- Salary lower than market rate - Departments playing pingpong and refusing to take responsibility - C-suite overpromising customers and expects us to be able to deliver - Toxic middle management - Lack of communication - C-suite overpromising things to employees and making empty promises - Average benefits - Performance bonus comes with a bond that lasts for months (or even a year)
