Pros

flexible schedule fun coworkers seeing shows for free (does not happen that often though) talking to patrons about the shows paid breaks multiple types of shift lengths (10-3, 3-7, 10-7)

Cons

discrimination for body shapes and hair styles from the clients pay is not worth the physical toll that the costumes and weather take on you unsupportive owner harassment in Times Square if you call out of a shift. you also lose your next shift if you get multiple strikes, you get put on probation have to arrive for your shift 30 minutes early but you are not paid for that time, and if you are 7 minutes late in that time, (aka you are now 23 minutes early instead of 30), you receive a strike lots of workers rights violated/not followed, such as unpaid mandatory meetings, no sick days, discrimination, unpaid mandatory early arrival

Probably one of the worst jobs I’ve had

Pros

You get to meet a lot of actresses, sometimes get tickets for shows, good pay

Cons

There were so many frustrating things about this job: - having to work even during a snowstorm (if you call out due to the weather, you get a strike) - had to deal with so many creeps on the street. SO MANY (Not the Management’s fault of course) - having to always look perfect. They provide you very uncomfortable and demanding costumes to promote the shows. If one hair is out of place, management rushes you to fix it and you might lose points in your evaluation (at the end of every shift you get evaluated) - you also ALWAYS have to have high energy, even after being followed by creeps or being in the pouring rain. - knew of a lot of girls who fainted because of very high or very low temperatures (if you go home for something like that, you still get a strike) - you feel watched by management constantly. You need to text them everytime you go into and out of the restroom, everytime you had to step into a store after being harassed by a creep. Management also walks around Times Square and will observe you. If you talk to a person for more than 5 seconds or if you are not posing the right way, they will tell you off and take points out of your evaluation. - the management has their favorites: a group of 7-8 girls who always get the free shows, the best treatment, paid trips, etc. If you are not part of that group, you are treated poorly or normally but you never get the “benefits” that everyone talks about. Also overheard management talk poorly about anyone who was not in the room everytime they wanted to.

Catty Environment from the top-down

Pros

-Occasional access to theater tickets or events, based on the clients! -Really amazing women work here and working with them got me through it.

Cons

-Catty CEOs/founders who take every advantage of their employees possible. They have unnattainable and unclear goals for their employees and are not afraid to voice them in a very inappropriate way. -Overtime payment is sketchy to say the VERY least. -Literally zero benefits. ZERO.
