Pros

The only reason I'm currently employed by Gourmet is they have the contract to staff the Convention Center. I will change employers again when their contract ends with AEG

Cons

Gourmet is a fledgling of the catering industry, they lack the respect of many of their employees. Gourmet enforces many links and reviews. I'm not sure why they insist on displaying these many links in each and every email sent to me. I couldn't care less about an excellence review, they all sound the same, like it was written by one their administrator of the site.boasting the same person. B have to prove it each time i view an email from them. Anyone who has been in the industry would feel the same, "That was last year, last event....You can brag all you like, but what does it do for me now?" Indeed they want us to believe they hold these high standards, But I'm not impressed. Especially when you're scheduling your own employee who won't even put linen on a table correctly?! if your staff is going to be at the Hawaii Convention Center, you do not schedule an employee who never been in the food and beverage department or doesn't have experience..Send them offsite since this you so "Exceptional?" The Convention Center is not a training facility, Furthermore nobody wants to train Gourmet's newbies w/o being compensated. We were paid the rate we are paid. Its what we were paid b4 you won the contract.. Just because your own employees aren't paid the same pay as we do, doesn't mean you should take advantage and force Convention to train the subordinates?! Our pay isnt compensation. Where's the incentive in that?

Pros

Meet new people in town, good networking. Events all over island. Pay varies but I've found other companies to pay more.

Cons

Not enough work and when there is there is favoritism of who gets the position. Seems like there's a lot of turnover here which is not a good sign of management They will take any live bodies to work large events. Tension is high and not fun to work

Pros

Alluring promises embracing new ideas.

Cons

Micromanaging CEO with inflated ego with zero knowledge on how to do everyday basic office skills. The claim is high paced as a good thing, which it is, however what this means to the owner is 24/7 availability and work. Phone calls on Xmas morning is not unheard of. Abrasive and berating atmosphere. Employees are afraid to speak up. Shouting matches among executives are a regular. The list goes on. Extremely toxic work environment and if you suggest HR, you’re fired.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We only improve with feedback and suggestions. I’d like to share a few comments in the spirit of transparency and understanding: • My management style is to give the team opportunities to make connections and hit goals through hard work and creativity. If goals are not being met, management does jump in to brainstorm and strategize with a team member, not to micromanage. • As a hospitality staffing company, we have many events on and around the holidays. We work to give our full-time staff flexibility when they will take paid holiday time off. For example, if you end up working a holiday you can take off another day the following week. • Robust debate is a healthy way to tease out issues and get to solutions All teams go through conflict and if team members lack trust they will not engage in debate. We work to cultivate an environment that is trusting, honest and authentic; therefore, we encourage team members to share and debate their ideas so collectively we can distill the best solutions. • As a staffing company, Human Resources is a key component for all team members. We have a proactive approach to HR. When issues arise HR gets involved right away to help a team member navigate understanding and proper protocol. Each team member has direct access to our HR council. I wish you the very best in your career. I am sure you will find the work environment that best fits you.
