Pros

Coworkers are nice. They offer shift bonuses for picking up shifts. Insurance for a single person is good.

Cons

Absent upper management. Very little consistency between supervisors. They tend to run crews (especially 24 hour trucks) ragged with little regard for food or downtime. If you call and request downtime after being in the truck for 20 hours they tell you to punch out and when your ready to run more calls punch back in. They purchase used trucks. Sometimes they get a good one, sometimes they don't. Nature of the beast. There are some crews/employees that are the favorites. They get bigger bonuses to pick up shifts or get to drag their feet on calls with no repercussions. Very low amount of time off for the amount of hours you work. Dispatchers are geographically challenged (some are better than others), but it starts at the top. Family insurance could be less expensive for the employee.

Pros

Some employees are pleasant to work with. And once in a blue moon managers work. But pros are barely a thing here

Cons

Some employees are a nightmare. Extremely underpaid. Overworked. God bless the Venice and port Charlotte 24. Horrible dispatchers. Corrupt managers, Illegal practices such as having employees drive 24 hours with no break or food. Privacy violations such as a camera staring at you on trucks at all times. You’re expected to take 3+ hours trip less than 2 hours before getting off after working all day and night with 0 sleep. There’s a book which employees write concerns and get ignored 100%

Just as a point of education there is nothing illegal taking place at our organization. There is no legal requirement to provide breaks or meal breaks to employees who work a 24 hour shift. Employees choose their own shifts and while we do try to make sure to give down time to the 24 hour crews sometimes it is challenging to give that time to them. Personally, if I am being paid to work 24 hours I expect to work for that 24 hours. There is always the option to pick a shorter shift. We don't have any corrupt managers, in fact we don't have any managers at all we have supervisors and directors.
