Pros

I applied for an opening and from the moment I received the first email from the recruiter, all the way through the interviews, follow-up conversations, and offer, to the welcome and onboarding process, my experience has been so positive and inspiring. I am thrilled to join this organization and the team. They have a big vision for truly making a difference for animals everywhere, along with talented and dedicated people.

Cons

I don't see any cons.

Pros

AH is focused on a single mission and that is to ensure the safety, welfare and well-being of animals. The President and CEO, Robin Ganzert, is a born leader that inspires, motivates, and empowers her entire team by leading by example. She works tirelessly and expects all employees to be passionate about the cause and their own work. I hated I had to leave once I had a baby and wanted to focus on my family. I miss the entire team and am hopeful they will take me back down the road.

Cons

I can honestly say I can’t think of any. All company policies were fair and there was always compassion, not judgement , when it came to personal issues.

Pros

This job created so many opportunities for me to grown and develop my skillset while learning so much more. I was promoted multiple times. I was afforded the opportunity to travel, fundraise, really get in the trenches and also do amazing work for animals and conservation. There was flexibility with WFH vs. office. Each year that i was there, i got to do more and more within the company. One minute we would be helping animals in a disaster area, and another minute we would be fundraising at a gala. From galoshes to black tie in the same week. They let me spread my wings , I got to work not just in my area, but marketing, PR, disaster relief, accounting, animal welfare. These sides were exciting to jump between and afforded me the opportunity to succeed and earn in the highs and lows of our crazy world. I am so proud of my work and will forever be working in the conservation space. I ended up having to move because my family was relocated, but I am forever grateful for this job. The CEO would take the time to send a hand written card for birthdays, holidays, milestones. It really made me feel special, valued, and appreciated. This support allowed me to soar. I can literally work anywhere now because I learned so many sides of the company.

Cons

Some of my coworkers were lazy & entitled. They were a time suck. You can read some of the reviews here and quickly spot the bitter ex employees that wanted to go to galas but were above helping in the trenches too (which is the entire point of this charity business!) It was infuriating because they were bitter at work too & toxified various departments. They are posting online for revenge vs. being grateful for an opportunity. Just reading this reminds me of how toxic they were to work with and I am so grateful they left. I understand that there is a lengthy process in terminating bad apples but its is a frustrating one. Most of my coworkers were great and will remain lifelong friends but there's always one that slips thru!

As an organization we take very seriously our core values, in particular, upholding the values of treating and talking about others with respect and compassion. We also work hard to address performance issues as they arise, though every situation is different.
