Pros

The NYC location is good for commuting, which is good since regular telework is not an option.

Cons

3 major rounds of layoffs over the last 7 years. Total compensation for senior management increased for at least 3 years, while at the same time regular staffers saw hiring & salary freezes, full-time positions reduced to part-time, the elimination of the match to their savings and investment plan, and a significant workforce reduction. For 2 years straight, layoffs have occurred right before Christmas.

Pros

Great team - co-workers very helpful. Free classes! I thought stability initially, however that did not prove to be the case. My work / life balance was great.

Cons

My first disappointment was the VCR tape introduction to AMA that is(was) used before every class. It's embarrassing to call yourself a technology leader and then use items that can only otherwise be found at the dollar store. Management is very old school. Nice enough for sure. But tough to make effective change when everything has been the way it is for decades, and there is little to no interest in changing it. No mobility. There's just no place to go unless someone retires. No raises. And no discussion about it. You're doing a great job, thanks!! And it wasn't a great salary to begin with.
