Pros

The people I work with and speak with are very friendly, hard working and always willing to help if needed.

Cons

The company/management has no regard for its employees well being, does not care about all the experience that has walked out the door over the last decade and continues to lie in all its dealings with employees. They have no regard for the sacrifices being made by those on who agreed to "temporary" shifts during covid so that everyone can keep their jobs as they are yet to be rewarded or even thanked while others are being rewarded for just doing their job. Even those who have been working throughout the entire pandemic have not been thanked. In my opinion and or should be seen as a way for people to get some experience and not a place to stay. Management has no respect for us and only see us as a salary they have to pay. Employees do not trust management and will not while certain directors stay. Oxford Instruments(parent company) is aware as I and many others have complained before and they did nothing. Also, when looking at other reviews, notice most of the positive ones are managers or above. They seem to be trying to raise the score on here by lying again.

Pros

The flexi hours are wonderful and the work / life balance is very good. The shop floor employees in the main are a great set of lads and would be a credit to most companies.

Cons

The biggest con which I can see is that the company hires too many non technical managers and team leaders. This is a massive mistake for a scientific company. More than a few don’t know what the products do/ are and if you question them there is a lot of pretence that they do.

Pros

Work is not demanding if you are a competent electronics eng/tech and my immediate colleagues are mostly old friends I have worked with before.

Cons

The pay is rubbish. Management is totally elitist and treat us as scum. There is no career structure unless you have a degree/doctorate or you are a serious sycophant and able to lick the managers boots. Nobody is interested in what you actually have to do to successfully achieve your targets unless you fail to do so. Management treat you like school children (I am 56 years old!). Several years ago the whole production team were told "Lose your bonus by letting us change your terms and conditions or find another job". Seriously, it was as simple as that. Basically, since this company was taken over by Oxford Instruments in a hostile takeover, it has been downhill all the way. All that matters now is the bottom line for the shareholders and tough if you don't like it. I used to enjoy working here 5 years ago, now I find it depressing, hostile and toxic and I don't see a bright future for the company. This is a cash cow that is going to be sucked dry by the shareholders (who will do very nicely out of at the expense of the real workers).
