"marketing" job

Pros

If you want to work sales then this job would be good. If you think you are going in to marketing then stay away.

Cons

'marketing' is misleading, This is for a sales job that has a very high turnover. You work long hours for what is basically minimum wage.

Pros

Literally nothing... except for a few friendly people.

Cons

The entire job beings with dishonest!. During the interview process, candidates are promised an exciting position in PR or Marketing. On your first day, you're notified that you'll be paid just over minimum wage, no travel re-reimbursement or paid training. Here is where I have to take some of the blame, for even considering accepting this job. The first week consists of a "training period" where you attend the morning meetings, where your co-workers force feed you specific scripts/sales pitches for the crummy products you'll be selling (If you try to use any creativity or personality during the pitch, you are reprimanded and told you're wrong). During training, after the 45 minute meeting (unpaid), you go home. Once you've shown that you can regurgitate their corny sales script, you're ready to drive (at leas) an hour to a Costco/Sams Club and sell super random products (pillows, hand warmers, etc). This consists of standing at a table and approaching every shopper that walks past by shoving the product in their face and reciting the script. Since there's no room for creativity and you're corrected if you ever try to introduce a personal message to a customer, this doesn't even provide employees sales training. They manipulate their employees by promising growth and using guilt tactics to brainwash them into drinking the cool aid. On your 1 day off all week, you're still expected to attend the morning meeting. Also, in another manipulative tactic, "management" requires you to wear business professional attire (suit/tie) to every morning meeting, despite the fact that you cannot wear this during the rest of the work day (you're required to wear specific clothes for different products, such as black slacks and a white dress-shirt for the hand warmers). Not only are you compensated unfairly, but you're expected to be as "rah-rah" as the terrible management. I truly can't think of a single positive thing to say about my experience with this "company."
