Pros

I genuinely struggle to think of any real positives. Your peers that you work on day to day projects with are nice enough but hard to form any real relationships with the way things are set up.

Cons

Middle management are useless and clueless. They’ve clearly promoted people who have just said ‘yes’ the whole time they’ve been there and are happy to continue and promote the toxic environment that exists. The unrealistic deadlines are forcing the technology projects to fail as so many corners end up being cut. They think that putting more pressure on people will make them work faster, but because they try and put pressure on using fear and threats, people stop wanting to go the extra mile and instead look for the easy way out. It creates an awful and toxic environment. Senior Management and Leadership are the worst I’ve come across in my career, which is 15+ years long. They’ve clearly promoted the nasty people who thrive on the toxic environment they have created and rule through fear. I was on calls with members of the senior management team who were swearing at junior team members and telling them the work they had done was not good enough. It is the worst place I have ever worked. When I raised some problems I was having outside of work that may impact my focus at certain times, I was offered no support and instead my line manager put more pressure on me to meet ridiculous deadlines they had agreed to.

Pros

Could be good experience for the right candidate, depending on your level and which department you join.

Cons

Stuffy culture, hierarchical in practice. No help given for managers who clearly cannot manage several staff in different locations (usually through no fault of their own). Stressful for managers who need more staff in their departments, to find they need to manage them remotely. Some staff members away from HQ in Sydney are consistently on calls outside their time zones, with last minute meeting cancellations at 6am or 7am happening regularly. No consequences for managers who are arrogant and ego-driven towards subordinates, and create a toxic working environment (via calls, emails, senior managers talking about the other person(s) negatively to other members of the team/staff). Zero consequences when managers are consistently toxic towards several members of the same department. Despite escalation from several members of staff. Especially terrible to see a manager set many subordinates up for failure, using a geographically split team to create a culture of fear/anxiety. Amazing that HR don't seem to want to step in, or even engage in a feedback process. However, they are executing what senior management wants, I guess. Senior leadership are fully informed of said toxic behaviour, and choose to turn a blind eye. If you work here, you have to accept this. If you're outside the Sydney HQ, expect lack of information flow / communication. Decisions may be made without your input before you wake up in the morning. In my opinion, there is a blame culture and not enough help given to those in satellite offices, unless you really shout.

Pros

It's a global company with very different cultures and experiences depending on where you're based. Here are my thoughts from the UK - Low stress work with no long hours - Remote first - Modern tech stack - Interesting features - Good people to work with *depending on your team - Decent pay

Cons

- Lack of a clear vision and how to execute it. - Requests from teams across the globe with slow response loops. It should really be one team in one location/continent. - Some people can be rude in communicating their requests. - like any company there are some bad eggs that have managed to slip in
