Incredibly disappointing

Pros

-The company is filled with incredibly lovely and experienced devs.

Cons

-Employee morale at an all time low. -Irresponsible company acquisitions followed by multiple layoffs and studio shutdowns. 3 layoffs in one year with a soft layoff (mandatory RTO) coming. Announced a new studio acquisition a week after shutting down another studio, Proving that there was no financial need to uproot the lives of so many. -No training. Expect any request for training or support to be stalled out for months. Rather than put in the effort to train the developers they already have they would rather buy an entire other studio and gut the team there 6 months later. -Large pay disparity between devs. With employees being heavily discouraged from discussing pay with others. -Terrible higher management who do not take accountability for their own mistakes. Rather shifting blame for failed projects on the wider team who were just following management's plans. Management scrapping months of work or even entire projects on vague reasoning despite team protests. -Anyone who is critical or challenges certain members of higher management in meetings will be flagged as "difficult" and be targeted for layoffs. - Little transparency between devs and higher management. Everything is fine until it isn't. You can be told the project is on track then it's cancelled a week later. You can see a teammates work be called invaluable in a meeting and find out they were laid off the next day. This makes trusting managers impossible. - Little room for career progression. Progression is heavily weighed towards years served rather than performance.

Poorly managed

Pros

-Great benefits -Great coworkers in the development level and the uk side as a whole

Cons

-management don’t listen or care, constantly get HR team to lie on there behalf and then let them take the brunt of the abuse when staff bet mad -staff are constantly thrown away like garbage -no effort to train juniors, who are then quietly fired when they can’t perform -Wayne in particular is a seems like a nasty man -3 rounds in layoffs, all shortly after big acquisitions. They’ve gotten rid off most the juniors from those studios as part of the layoffs btw -feels like management want to play the blame game instead of getting better

Horrific Executive Management

Recommend

Pros

Some nice people in the development teams.

Cons

Horrific Executive Management. The EVP and CEO are insecure bullying monsters who treat people as a disposable and a necessary inconvenience and the VPs and below are terrified of them. It's an awful way to lead a company and trickles down. Only the teams insulated by their departmental leads are insulated from this awful work environment. Horrible culture hidden beneath a veneer of sycophants trying to keep their job and paid best place to work awards.

Unfortunately, this year has been challenging for our industry. We've had to make difficult, strategic decisions to ensure our long-term stability and success. We remain committed to providing the best care and support in an inclusive, welcoming environment. That's why we redefined our company structure and leadership, along with implementing new employee engagement strategies announced in the summer. We sincerely appreciate your time, contribution, and impact at Behaviour. We wish you all the best for the future!
