Pros

Incredible culture and some of the smartest and customer-obsessed people I have ever met. Benchling has a compelling and inspirational mission to help address some of the world's biggest challenges. An incredible product that really disrupts incumbent solutions in the market. My life as a scientist would have been completely different if I had access to Benchling. Salary and benefits are great, regular opportunities to bring remote and office-based colleagues.

Cons

Overambitious goals and target led to some issues when macroeconomic factors came into play and started to impact our customer base. This has been a common issue for SAAS companies in 2022/23 but unfortunately led to some layoffs within the field team. Layoffs are always difficult and traumatic but Benchling is definitely coming out the other side with a renewed energy and focus on culture. Work is demanding, this is not a 9-5 job but the benefits and upside is there for people who are successful.
