Poor management leads to frustrating work experience
Pros
In the beginning I thought I was working with quality management. I did however have some great co-workers! I think the company would have been okay to work for but Annie the manager of the 2 properties I was working at was not all there. She made my job difficult by micromanaging every aspect of maintenance and as service manager I had absolutely no control over my department. Yet she couldn't even do payroll properly. I've gone to my regional on more than one occasion about this and I just kept getting referred back to Annie. On a Thursday I requested PTO for the following Monday. I even sent her a text message letting her know I had put a request in. Monday afternoon she told me I would need a doctor's note to come back to work!! This threw me off!! I hadn't called out sick! I Put a PTO request in!! The next day I tried to reach out to my regional to explain the situation to her but I got no return call or message. The very next day which was Wednesday 9am I saw in Paycor that I was terminated for 3 days in a row no call no show!!! Now I don't see how that's possible given the fact that I had requested Monday off was told I couldn't come back without a doctor's note and then Wednesday at 9:00 I was terminated for the third no call no show in a row. But a no-call no show constitutes being 2 hours or more late without a phone call. We don't start work till 8:00 I was terminated at 9:00! do the math. Not only was I terminated but then I was not given any of my on-call maintenance bonuses that I was promised in the beginning, I was screwed out of at least 24 hours of pay was also charged at $250 lock change fee which in this business rekeying locks is standard procedure when somebody is terminated or quits!! I also turned in receipts that I never got paid back for!! I reached out to the company's head of HR, sent multiple emails to corporate, made many phone calls which none were returned. Finally I was promised by someone named Amanda that she was working and investigating on it and I would hear from her by the end of the week. That was two weeks ago and I haven't heard anything! I spent 8 hours in orientation listening to how this company has such integrity and good mornings and core values blah blah blah, and this is how I get treated after 2 months of working there!! Beztak-Oakland reminds me of why I don't like working for others! I'd much rather work for myself.
Cons
Service managers have no authority whatsoever they are a scapegoat for things that go wrong during inspections!! The property manager is allowed to make as many mistakes or screw as many people over as she wants to and get away with it every time.
