Pros

The sales team (AEs and the two sales managers) work very well together and are very supportive. Lots of change but the sales team still found ways to be successful in all the chaos. Unlimited PTO, pay was fair and OTE was obtainable, however goals and comp plans are a moving target with little explanation as to why they are always changing.

Cons

LOTS of people are leaving from all departments - sales reps, Managers, Policy team, Enterprise sales team, co-founders, directors, etc - and they are the ones who have been holding Booster together. In the last 6 months, most of the top people in each departments has left, leaving big holes within the organization. New upper level leadership is all from Amazon or Uber, so they think they can change Booster into the next Amazon or Uber. Lots of ideas and growth strategies have been rolled out without any plans on how to implement them. New leadership thinks that customers will want to pay a premium for our service (see Amazon or Uber) but we literally are negotiating down to the penny off of a customer's fuel price to be competitive. So far, all of these strategies have failed, so much so that they laid off a big group of people in July 2022 due to underperforming growth numbers. They hired too many people in 2021, while trying to get their next round of funding, to show big growth numbers, and now that they have finalized that funding round, they are scaling back down to reality. New markets that were supposed to be opened have been delayed due to the lack of sales, operational support, or policy issues that should have been known well in advance. The sales team is very frustrated, I could easily see a mass exodus of sales reps in the near future. On another note, the HR team is probably one of the least responsive I have ever worked with. It would take days to get a simple response from HR, if they would respond at all. Needing something from HR was a running joke within the team, you might as well just figure it out on your own. I'm sure someone from HR will respond to this post, as they have on others, with a generic response just to say they responded. The 3.1 score on Glassdoor is lower than most companies in the area but is a good representation of where Booster is currently.

Pros

Great idea. Customers who actually try the product tend to like it and stay loyal. The fuel drivers are a great crew--they work hard and enjoy taking care of the customers. This is a great job for people who would normally be driving 7 days a week with few benefits and not nearly as much excitement as what you see in an early stage startup.

Cons

From a high-level, this is a gas delivery business. And that's just not very exciting. Internally there are lots of problems. Sure, every company has petty stuff going on. Cliques and drama. Unfortunately, in this place, the CEO and other leaders ("leaders") take it to the next level. They listen to the wrong people, both inside and outside of the company. They never have your back, and everyone is replaceable. In this negative environment, lots of people quit or get fired. Just search LinkedIn for all of the dead bodies left by the road. You can't have that much turnover and not have major internal morale problems. People don't leave jobs, they leave people. And this place has a major people problem.

Pros

The majority of the employees at Booster are hard working, mission driven, and team oriented. Finance, Policy, and Product/Engineering are especially strong and are the bouys that keep Booster afloat. Cannot speak highly enough about the rank and file.

Cons

The non-technical founders exhibit an arrogance that borderlines delusion. Whether it's their callous disregard for their employees (see: executive (CBO, CMO) & team firings or turnover in general) or the belief that a start-up simply needs to reside in the SFBA and call itself a tech-company to deem its product/service as differentiated, Booster is a failure on both accounts. Unfortunately, Booster is neither a tech company, nor differentiated, as its exact "solution" has existed for 50+ years. That said, when many share similar ideas on changing an industry it comes down to execution; something Booster and their founders have fumbled with and consequently explained away for years.
