Great school, terrible company

Pros

- School was amazing. Nothing to do with the company. - Was paid on time. - Once you're in your rhythm, they generally left you alone to get on with your job at your school.

Cons

Where do we start? - Whilst most staff were nice, there were others within HR and some of the coordinators were generally very patronising. - They doubt your ability when they come to check in on you and go as far as to dig into your performance with the school teachers to find out how bad you were even if the teachers say you were great, they do continue to keep digging. - Pay wasn't liveable. - 0 communication between members within HR. - 0 support given when there were out of work issues. - If you have are really sick, they will force you to see a doctor even if you are unable to leave your own bed.

Pros

Helpful and supportive staff(some not all and also depends on certain situations) Able to offer a variety of ES/JHS positions Help with accommodation and the filling out of forms and documents required during the first few weeks in Japan. Training lasts a good amount of time before initially starting at your school.

Cons

Feel more like someone who is there to fill a role instead of an actual teacher. If there are any problems they tend to deal with them between the school and themselves and notify the teacher last of all. On occasion they can go back on their word or rephrase something written in the contract to avoid taking any blame or responsibility if there is a issue.

Pros

The kids in the schools are lovely.

Cons

Bad pay: they basically rip-off the education ministry. Awful "support" team. Overworking (I had seven schools across all age-ranges, min 90mins from my home). Zero remuneration for overtime (roughly 40-80hrs a month). "handsy" manager who has been reported on by at least two employees (including myself), Zero support in school (98% of classes I was the primary teacher, not the ALT).
