Pros

- Every year the firm makes improvements in their culture and benefits. Just this last year they became JUST Labeled, Employee-Owned (ESOP), and rolled out unlimited PTO. - They pursue cool projects with really high performance goals. Of course, net every project is amazing, but every year there are at least a few amazing ones. - They don’t sweat the small stuff and really want us to do what’s right for the client, even if that means we don’t make a profit on the project.

Cons

- Management has made a few bad hires that they ended up firing a year later, this takes a toll on everyone, and it would have been better if they could screen those people out through the hiring process. - Just like most A/E jobs projects and deadlines can be stressful.

Pros

-Great people, fun to work with. -windows for almost all employees, open style office with lots of natural light -social activities usually once or twice a month. beer, snacks, and a couple hours to just talk. -lots of young employees means career opportunities.

Cons

-everyday there seems to be a new fire to put out. -Time is strained, and after a while I have seen that the always tight schedule is by design, not a fluke that will get better next month as is always promised. Advancing your skills and certifications will lead to more work but not more $$$. -When employees are let go or leave the firm project schedules are not adjusted. -Lack of time on projects leads to missing big items that come back to bite the firm. Some calculations aren't done, some codes aren't properly researched, and management can be hard to find around deadlines. This in turn this leads to more work and a more stressed schedule. -lots of young employees means that mentors are few and their time is elusive. Most engineers/techs have 1-5 yrs experience. Only 1 MEP engineer (involved in the SD,DD, CD, and CA phases) is over 40. -Sustainable designs are talked about but they are frist on the VE chopping block with little push back. Few employees actually have up to date sustainable engineering training.

Pros

You can drink in the office.

Cons

The project managers will load you up with more work that you can handle, then they will go to happy hour. If you are going to work in the Denver office electrical team, don't waste you time. You will be fired for no reason and no explanation. I once had the project manager receive a job on a Thursday, he didn't give it to me so he could go snowboarding Friday, then sat on it all weekend without working, then dropped the project in my lap 12:30 and told me it needed to be done by the next day. I was given projects with less than half of the information. Then after I would finish, i would be told it was wrong based on information from the architect that I was never given. If you are good at your job and have a good work ethic, they will over work you.
