Pros

Very low micromanaging, very loose on daily requirements for station expectations, call volume is high and transports are frequent, allowing for much experience and sharpening of skills. Protocols allow for wide range of advanced interventions, relative to other departments.

Cons

Morale is low due to work load and salary compensation. Easily burn out as there is a major shortage of paramedics, many leaving, not many joining due to relatively low pay. Has been that way for decades, according to senior guys. 2 man rescues, frequent mandatory overtime.
