Great schedule and pay. Rewarding work. Community atmosphere. Job security.
Cons
Very woke campus culture. Hard to advance into higher level or full-time positions unless you share their politics and/or fit a minority group they are looking for.
Classified employees really care about students
Everyone is usually willing to help out even when it extends beyond their job
Cons
Upper management makes bad hiring decisions, putting bad managers in place who make things worse than if they just left the position open
Poor leadership and the inability to effectively manage resource constraints leads to an environment where egos and "legacies" are more important than actually serving students
Being with students is great. Good quality classrooms, decent technology. Campus is a wildlife refuge. Opportunities for paid continued learning every semester.
Cons
No benefits for PT. No office space for PT. No job security. You are expected to do all the work of a Full Time professor but not paid for any of the time. I worked an average of 25 hours a week & was paid for 8. Any student w/ a grudge can get you in trouble. Very little support from admin - even when you have proof to back you up, they take the student's side b/c of the $. No real chance of getting Full Time. They almost always hire from outside the college.
