Worst Job EVER

Pros

There are none. This company is like a high school environment and lies

Cons

I have waited sometime so I can really think this review through before submitting it. I want to be completely honest and real with those looking into this company. I was a top performer at this company and got treated like absolute garbage. 1. They don’t even understand their own process. They have this thing called conversion and can’t give you a black or white answer about it. 2. Lead flow: They can cut everyone leads flow if they paid a lot of commission in the previous month and they give better leads to top performers. And if your conversion is below 60 and you are a top performer they will cut your lead flow. 3. This work environment is like a high school, their are the popular kids and the outcast. Best way to put it. Your on a team and you don’t get a say in. They won’t move you to another team. They make you hate other teams trying to be competitive. 4. You are told to harass customers until they tell you to Leave them alone. Management sucks. You get falsely accused of things you never did and they don’t let you put in two weeks. They just tell you to leave the day you tell them. This place is a freaking circus and is so stressful and uncertain. Definitely not for those who can’t handle calls and being thrown under the bus.

Not worth the time

Pros

Good coworkers, good health benefits

Cons

Pay started out great, new CEO took over and the whole company completely changed. People lost their jobs, commission went out the window, stopped caring about the employees and never had answers when employees had questions.

Pros

For those new in their sales career, you should get a lot of opportunity to grow and explore here. The sales managers were always pretty open-minded to new ideas and approaches. Those who do well make decent money as well.

Cons

Management perceives sales reps as "not real salesmen" and treat sales reps like they're idiots. There was a reduction in commission at the beginning of 2021 and the management team tried to lie and tell employees that they'd actually be making just as much money as before. There was no way to twist the math to allow that to be true. On top of this, the job is incredibly grindy and not particularly rewarding.

Pros

-great commission (sorta they're constantly changing it) - great team (managers, and peers are great! - along with upper management)

Cons

Working life balance is hard. The majority of us work on weekends to keep up with sales/conversion - can lead to burn outs. no 401k plans

Pros

Environment is very startup-esque with a lot of room to grow. There's a lot of good energy here, but that is mostly from your coworkers. I've had a wonderful experience working alongside these good people. They really do give their all, and that energy can be infectious. Wonderful culture amongst coworkers.

Cons

Byte has an incredibly bad habit of 'half truths'. I was hired on as an S1 for 17 an hour. Not long after, they lowered the pay for that position to 15 while still marketing it as 17. Marketed as a 'customer service' job with no sales or outbound calls required. This is a direct lie. The 'customer experience rep. position' is NOT customer service but sales. Unbalanced commission and quota structure, partnered with poor, manipulative management has led to a high turnover rate. Team leads and upper management simply do not listen, or worse, pretend their listening, and slowly attempt to change your mind and threaten you with disciplinary action even when you have met metrics if you don't comply. Communication is terrible between individual departments and there is a tremendous amount of animosity. You won't see this from their ads or from your initial few days at working here, but it's there nonetheless. Upper management constantly talks about how 'good' and 'moral' Byte is. Be VERY cautious when coming here!

Pros

Warm leads generate easier conversations assisting in high conversion rates. Commission from sales is great.

Cons

Have to work at least 45 hours/week to hit quota. It is very hard to recover from vacation time.

Unlimited Vacation DOES NOT MEAN Unlimited PTO

Pros

Do I have your attention now? Ok good. The pro's I would say with this company was my coworkers. There's a special bond you create when you are all going through the trenches together. But that was about it. I really don't have anything else positive to say. They have a pretty squeaky clean Glassdoor profile because they bribed the office with a Make Your Own Soda party if they received over 100 5 - star Glassdoor reviews. The longer you look, the worse it gets. Read my review and then go back to see how fake the rest are.

Cons

Ok. I will try and make this as clear and concise as possible for the sake of not ranting. Unlimited Vacation DOES NOT MEAN Unlimited PTO: The "Unlimited Vacation" policy they boast in job descriptions really means that it's unpaid. PLEASE ask them about this in your interview. Trust me, it's unpaid. And if you are in Sales; GOOD LUCK using vacation time. They won't decrease your already insanely high quota and you will be threatened with termination when you inevitably miss your number for taking a short vacation. Also, be prepared to work on Christmas eve and NYE. Quota - For a while, the quota was 200 sales a month. Which is pretty extreme. To hit these numbers, most sales reps would work 10-12 hour days. In the winter, most reps would work weekends just to keep up. It's encouraged to never take days off and to just grind as hard as you can. Classic grounds for burnout. Hence why 1/2 of the team has quit in the last few months. Pay - I'll be honest, the commission was great. It made those long covid winter days and weekends worth the grind. However after they realized how much they overpaid sales reps, they changed the commission structure 3 times during my time there. Sadly it's not worth the physical and mental toll it takes on you. Its a pretty low $15/hour base with an added commission depending on how many sales you get. Vibe - The vibe was kinda okay. It was pretty weird working in an office in Utah County during a pandemic with no masks. The other teams are very young. Like 19-year-olds on the customer service team. So the professionalism gap is pretty big between sales and CX. Mostly everyone is fine, but if you watch some of the slack channels (utah-office) - it pretty much is just a chatroom. Pretty distracting and not very professional. They also play music in the office. Which I have never really seen before. It's not really good nor bad. Just... interesting? I swear Zedd - Clarity will just constantly haunt my dreams now after working in that office. My closing thoughts - If you are 20 years old and this is your first sales job...go for it. Grind it out, make some money. Get some experience. However, if you are somewhat seasoned in sales, it should be pretty clear to stay FAR away from this company. There are tons of awesome SaaS or Solar companies that would love to have you. I really hope this helps some of you out there!
