Pros

Mostly good people, nice and welcoming atmosphere. Relatively good salary.

Cons

1) Very white organisation. Programme / advisory departments at HQ are dominated by white people. Small number of staff from the BAME backgrounds are doing either support functions or working in the field offices with less salary and with no prospect for promotions. 2) It's presence and impact are somewhat weak. Everyone knows about ActionAid, Save the Children, Oxfam or Christian Aid, but most people give a blank expression when they hear CAFOD. Their advocacy and policy work are often ignored or unnoticed amongst aid communities. 3) Some white staff exhibit micro aggression against BAME staff on daily basis by actively ignoring or avoiding them (e.g. greeting or blatant avoidance of eye contact). The organisation does nothing to discourage micro aggression in work place.

Pros

- Amazing sustainable building in central building. Lots of perks like cycle to work scheme, sports clubs, spiritual enrichment - Always willing to challenge itself, and improve - Allows for creative thought, experimentation and really cares about it's values and putting them into practice

Cons

- stressful working environment because it is big on ideas, but not on execution. - lack of adhered to strategy means people make things up as they go along. this is extremely frustrating in meetings when no one takes responsibility for decision making - the organisation has allowed some people to coast for many years, who are a strain on teams and the organisation as a whole
