      Good stepping stone into the construction industry, poor long term prospects

      Pros

      No construction experience necessary, 8-5 office job. Good for young people looking to get into sales/the construction industry.

      Cons

      A lot of office politics. Promotions depend on who you know, not what you know. Not much progression or recognition for people who work hard. High staff turnover. Not flexible for employees with family.

      Great company with lack of respect for staff

      Pros

      Expert, professional committed ground-level staff. Products you can be proud of. Probably still the best construction materials company around.

      Cons

      No life-work balance. Staff seen as dispensable commodities and expected to do the work of 2 or 3 people. Endemic, sometimes blatant sexism - embarrassing for any man to see who has any sense of decency. Climate of fear where people are frightened to say when anything is wrong in case they are victimised or blamed for it.
