Pros

Great team, managment team open to speak to anyone Flexible working arrangements Strong, supporting atmosphere across diverse groups with affinity teams set up and internal training schemes Company driven by impact over profit - really making a difference Able to engage with government etc - some opportunties you'd not get anywhere else.

Cons

Recent change in IT systems are making some processes difficult but this should improve with time.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! It’s incredibly encouraging to hear how CPI fosters such a collaborative and inclusive environment. Your comments about the open management culture, flexible working, and the company’s mission-driven approach really highlight what makes CPI special. It’s great to see long-term employees like yourself feeling supported and empowered, especially with opportunities to engage beyond the organisation. We appreciate your honesty about the IT changes too, and we’re optimistic that improvements will continue. Thanks again for being part of what makes CPI a great place to work!

It will grind you down

Pros

Brilliant if you love steering groups and no accountability. Some good people Decent chances for progression if you're in the right role and are friendly with the right people.

Cons

After a while it feels like you've fallen into a pit of despair that you'll struggle to climb out of. Once promising young professionals quickly become empty shells unrecognisable from when they first started. The old guard are empowered to grind new blood into the ground. People are given managerial roles because they've been around a long time, not because they're actually suitable for management. Often they're the least suited to it and nothing gets done about it. The politics.. Jesus christ the politics. If you think the back stabbing and bullying in Game of Thrones was bad, you've seen nothing. It's a constant battle just to navigate the political landscape in the company, everything needs a play, a plan, collusion with the right people so they'll "buy in". Complete lack of transparency over salaries, opportunities and benefits.

Pros

CPI are good at developing newly qualified people and encouraging young talent. A relaxed work environment with lots of social opportunities. Flexible working hours.

Cons

Wages for qualified and experienced people are so poor as to frankly be an insult. No/limited career progression within the business. Nepotism and cronyism are rife here, if you're not related or married to someone higher up you will struggle to progress. If someone is half as qualified for the role you are going for but they are friends with the hiring manager then they will get the job over you, every single time. CPI will actively seek to halt your progression within the business by blocking you from moving to other roles or departments so they don't have to pay you what you're worth. If you do secure an internal promotion you will only ever be able to increase your salary by 10%, even if the salary for your new role is advertised far in excess of that amount. Any attempt to increase your wages will see you ostracised by your peers and made fun of.
