Pros

There are none apart from Caroline Burns.

Cons

Well... where do I start. Living conditions - if you can call it that. I believe people in English prisons have more luxury than this, a bed that resembles a hard piece of wood and mesh with holes in for windows. All I can is good luck when it rains let alone storms. Food - If you want to put on a stone or lose a stone in a matter of days this is the place you should go! Processed "chicken pattes" which were actually grey, mud pie that tasted of disinfectant or alternatively you can always live off a lettuce leaf and cucumber! Benefits to children - Sadly the majority of riding staff couldn't ride themselves. Questions need to be asked when riding staff are incapable of tacking up horses and riding themselves, let alone teach children. Horses - Quite frankly animal cruelty. Lack of care for the horses well being and more concerned about the money side of things. Staff Working Conditions - Dreadful. Working for 17 hours a day with a half hour break is what your daily routine will consist of ( don't be fooled - this is no exaggeration). Don't expect to get a day off every week OR with any friends you make, it just wont happen its more like every 10 days with individuals who you don't necessarily have much in common with. Lastly ... MANAGEMENT - words cannot explain how badly managed this organisation is. There is a significant lack of communication between staff and sadly favouritism is key at camp rim rock. Camp Rim Rock has a very simple hierarchy, the directors, those who they like and all the rest of us who are tret like peasants. The lack of respect to employees, in particularly barn staff, is outrageous. Working your fingers to the born (literally) - don't expect to be thanked or recognised for this hard work, its just unappreciated. Heads of activities and units seem to be the only people who have a voice which will occasionally be heard at Camp Rim Rock, yet nothing ever changes. Finally - As a worker do not expect to be looked after by the directors, they wouldn't bat an eyelid at the thought of throwing you out on the streets. I really wish I was joking.

Pros

Meeting new people Room and board included Meals made for you Travel on days off is available

Cons

Poor communication between director and counsellors. Director will complain about a counsellors performance but will not speak to them to let them know areas they need to improve. Can be a lot of pressure on counsellors as usually short staffed Counsellors views aren’t always listened to
