Pros

-Solid, working level people [who are getting demotivated by the day] -Skateboard is neat -Product portfolio is actually impressive, and aims to let Canoo own a unique segment of the market (which is more important than just pumping out cars for volume)

Cons

Having a new chairman start at Canoo was initially exciting news. However, the last few months have been painful as this company is struggling getting a grip on what it wants to be - as it seems one individual is driving the fate of this company. This is not only toxic, but demoralizing as it seems the working level people are left to figure things out - while management of this company is working with "the board" (one person) to figure out what the definition of this company is. This leaves the "working level" people to define their own paths - with other working level peers in other departments. When processes are eventually implemented, they are implemented with complete disregard to how it can impact the current working level individuals, and are almost always done with no follow-up with the actual individuals doing the work. What this has created is the worst kind of startup environment - individuals working towards goals not really defined by management, with process and organizational changes not vetted with the actual individuals doing the work. Does this really inspire a workplace people are proud to be working at?

Pros

Nostalgic memories of when the company was good. Still quite many good people. If we ever get this car to market it will be cool

Cons

This place fell apart real fast. We had a good thing going. We probably all expected some tweeks with the new management but what a disaster. Just read or listen to the most recent earnings report to understand what kind of an ego the guy running this place has. Tony Aquila is an uneducated crook who drags around the same bunch of loony tunes from place to place because they're the only ones who are dumb enough to agree to whatever he says. Every good thing that existed is questioned unless it comes from the new overlords. There seems to be no point to anything we're doing. Upper management and board has all been replaced by yes-men (zero women in company leadership, only on the board presumably because of CA law). The praise they have for Tony is so transparent. These guys have never get real jobs at a real tech company so they had to come screw up our company Culture is moving openly sexist. Every day something new to investigate because nobody is willing or able to make good decisions. Product launch is already gonna be delayed. Constant disruption--maybe we're moving to Dallas where there is zero automotive workforce. Many good people pushed out the door. The rest of us all looking.... New hires don't stay long. Especially in HR--we lost 3 HR managers in a few month.

Pros

Ulrich was a great leader before the merger changed his role.

Cons

Extremely low compensation. Little to no RSUs. No bonus. No refresher. Terrible work life balance. Executive team has no idea what they are doing. No opportunities for advancement. No perks. Totally dysfunctional engineering process. Mandatory 12 hour days and weekends. Lack of product vision. Lack of resources. Absurd requests with impossible deadlines. Toxic culture. Employees crushed by workload. It is not uncommon to hear people crying in meeting rooms. One employee was so overworked that he had a stroke. Middle managers will manipulate and lie to you in tactical ways while attempting to micro manage your day to day. Go anywhere else but here.
