This publication claims it’s not a “pay for play” but everything about their business model screams it. As for the position, you are basically a glorified cold caller expected to make around 80 calls a day. Since the only way they make money is through advertising you are required to schedule as many meetings as you can so that the executive directors can pitch the interviewees after each interview. The whole thing is quite cringe worthy.
If things didn’t get worse, they expect you to write your articles either before or after work hours so that you can be on the phones in between interviews which you never have time to properly prepare for. So as a result, the same mediocre questions are asked basically every year but their money hungry CEO doesn’t care because their main priority is to sell advertising in their annual book that is out dated by the time it is published. Long story short, don’t waste your time!
