Toxic Tech Dump

Pros

Free snacks, casual dress code, great health insurance

Cons

You have to purchase your own computer, use your own cell phone, all without any comp. Very little diversity - it is used as a marketing ploy. Employees are expected to take texts/calls/meetings with the CEO at all hours of the day and night, including holidays. Highly volatile culture of fear surrounding interactions with leadership. High turnover. Very toxic workplace for women. Inappropriate conduct of leadership and any reported behavior ends in terminator for the reporter. Leadership bad mouths other employees and outside companies. Falsifies numbers/reporting for better stats. Expects you to work 50+ hours weekly. No community amongst employees or members. Bro/frat culture to a terrifying degree. Direct retaliation to a new employer if attempting to leave.

A Sinking Ship

Pros

I write this for anyone looking into joining CF, and only wish to be candidly helpful. CF has a great mission, but lost on the idea train. It is a great stepping stone for those wanting a career in the startup world, but it is made clear by the CEO that you only stay at CF for 2 years. The people are all like minded, hard workers, which is contagious and makes you want to work harder (that is until you are burnt out). I really did try to write as many pros as I could...

Cons

CF is a sinking ship. Their finances are a mess, upper management does not know what to do, they cannot pay current employees, and the only way to move upward is if someone from the top leaves. There is absolutely no work life balance, and you are expected to block out about 4-5 weeks of the year just for CF. Long hours with no overtime, no lead time to truly get a project done, and when it is said they we need help it is heard by management and then ignored. The mission behind CF is great, but the idea train is off the tracks with no hope of finding its way back. The goal is "how do we make ourselves look successful" rather than "how does this benefit the startup while keeping the sanity and balance for our employees." If you want a career with work life balance, and clear upward mobility, then CF is NOT the place for you.
