Pros

Not many pros here honestly except that you meet a lot of people. The turnover rate is super high so you’ll meet a ton of people, become good friends with them for a couple of days, and then never see them again because they quit. Road trips are also fun depending on who you go with.

Cons

There are many many many cons to working here and I would not recommend it to anyone. I’ll start with the manager, CEO, president, etc, Colleen. She’s definitely on drugs.. her energy is unnatural. She is a HUGE gossip who is sneaky and not transparent. She will lie straight to your face and never own up to the things that she has done wrong. She will say that we are all about integrity and protecting the client and helping the customer but she is really about lining her pockets. She will get mad at you for not selling attachments to customers that they don’t want or need. She will say that we’re not a seniority based company but she does have favorites. The job is fully commission based. You are told in the interview that it is a $400 weekly base pay plus commission but in reality it is a $400 draw that you will have to pay back if you do not meet that $400 minimum. Colleen is an extremely cheap person. You will be expected to go out and get drunk with the office every Monday night (Colleen gets extremely touchy and crosses a lot of boundaries) and also pay for everything yourself. They will push everyone to drink even if it is against your religion or you are underaged. Everyone gets extremely drunk and then drives home right after. If you’re looking to be in a toxic relationship, this office is perfect for you. If you are a female you will for sure get hit on and most likely end up sleeping with at least one person in the office. It’s a huge dating pool in office and Colleen feeds into it. You will have no work life balance at all as you are expected to work Wednesday-Monday from 10:30am to 8pm, but you are highly encouraged to come in earlier and work later. If you end up leaving the business for any reason Colleen will talk about you as if you were the worst thing to happen to the company and have everyone in the office stop talking to you. Your checks will never be correct and if you talk to Colleen about it it’s always an excuse or something that you have done wrong to not get the correct amount. When you go on road trips you are to pay for your own gas, food, and anything else you need other than the place to stay. You travel to the office and to the stores which could be over an hour away and you get no gas reimbursement whatsoever. She does not care rain or shine, sickness or health, you have to show up and perform. She does not care about your finances or any of your personal problems. If someone dies in your family your encouraged not to go to the funeral because, in her words, “they’re already dead so why does it matter?”. There is a ton of fraud going on in the office and Colleen knows about it but again, she only cares about how much money she is making. Overall, I would never work for this office again. It is not worth the time, effort, and the job will not give you any peace of mind. Colleen will constantly preach that 9-5’s are the worst things ever but honestly having a job with consistent and guaranteed pay and a work life balance are way better than anything this job has to offer.

Past employee, I appreciate the feedback. There are a few statements we feel to be exaggerated. The statements about drugs, fraud, and office romances were extreme and have no factual support to back the claims. The personal slander against the CEO also seems extreme. We wanted to address these claims before writing our response. Here at CLG we are not everyone's cup of tea. There's 3 things we prioritize above all else someones work ethic, their attitude, and student mentality. We talk about these things constantly. We hold people accountable to these qualities constantly. We push people to get stronger in these characteristics so that they can create a better life for themselves. We get it, there's a lot of professionals who are not looking for an opportunity that holds them accountable to higher standards in life and this can cause people to feel vulnerable and lash out. We are sorry that you didn't appreciate our business and the accountability pieces. We are glad you enjoyed the relationships you made on business trips. Ultimately, we are proud of the business we run. We have nothing to hide. We love our people. We love what we do. I'd highly recommend future candidates make a decision about us directly after meeting us.

Pros

Pro- Rewarding work. Just as much as performance intimidated me, when I saw my personal progress and the financial gain I was making as a young 23-year-old woman, I closed the door on other opportunities and decided this was the one for me. I’ve always prioritized being my best, but in other jobs I still was compensated the same as my peers who were doing below average work. I even got passed up for promotion because one man had “been there longer and had more experience” even though I had been outperforming him for months. Catalyst Leadership Group is the first company to actually recognize my hard work and promote me because of my performance and work ethic. Second, I’ve learned practical life/business skills. Dealing with customers face to face has taught me to become an excellent communicator. I’ve noticed the difference in how I talk to just about anyone and my ability to make just about anyone listen/value what I have to say. It’s DRASTICALLY improved my confidence. The management training program in the office sharpened my professional skills. I’ve learned how to manage, lead, interview, and train people. I’m now confident even if I decided to leave Catalyst, I’d be a valuable asset to any company, and I’d beat out any other candidate because of my real-life experience Last, I think, is the environment and culture of Catalyst. We talk a lot about having a work hard, play hard mentality and we really do. I’ve made some of my best friendships outside of my hometown with the people here at Catalyst. It’s refreshing to be part of a company with such synergy and genuine care for its’ people and their progress.

Cons

Cons- Hard work. The company specializes in face to face customer acquisition, meaning dealing with new/existing customers directly. It’s a challenge because any job dealing with people is going to entail rejection. Second, it’s not a traditional “9-5” opportunity. I list this as a con only because when I started in the company right after college, I had the expectation that any job was a “9-5”. My mom was in government and my dad a special education teacher, so that was the schedule I’d been around my whole like. It took some adjusting to when I first started. Last, I’d say getting over the nervous of a performance-based industry. Again, my family was government workers, so the idea of performance pay/advancement made me nervous because it all relied on me to happen.

Pros

-good at selling you on the job, fully convinced myself it would be a good fit even though I had doubts -the people who worked there for a long time felt very family-like and wanted to help each other -the first 2 hours of the day was hype but not sure how necessary it was

Cons

I went into this job looking for some experience. Upon getting the interview I was told everything about the job and got a second interview. I felt really good and was convinced I’d be a good fit, being told they get 150 applicants a day and being one of the 2 people hired. Once I started my orientation I felt like I had made a mistake. Upon the first week of working I had made a sale and tried to get more information about the job because something always seemed off. Making money by harassing other people and having to be taught how to get in people’s personal space felt wrong and I didn’t feel like this was genuine. I quit the job the following week feeling drained and burnt out from harassing people all day and was told I’d get my paycheck in the mail. Pacing around the electronic department wishing I was just a Target worker who was scanning barcodes has been an experience I never want to go back to. It’s been over 4 months and I have reached out to them asking for my paycheck since I had also made an sale and never got a response. All the things that the other reviewers said are true and made me relive my hell days. There are some people who thrive and seemed to really like this job and I’m sure it’s a perfect job for those who are fine with standing in Target getting rejected all day but personally I would rather be cold calling and deal with people hanging up on me.

Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. We’re glad to hear you connected with the team and felt supported by the people around you — our culture and sense of community are things we genuinely value. We also want to clarify a few points for anyone reading. Catalyst is a sales organization, and the role involves engaging with customers, presenting products, and building conversations in a retail environment. We are transparent during the interview process about what the position entails so candidates can decide if it aligns with their comfort level and long-term goals. While this type of face-to-face sales isn’t the right fit for everyone, many of our team members enjoy the growth, communication skills, and leadership development that come with the role. We are sorry to hear that your experience didn’t feel aligned with what you were looking for. Regarding your paycheck, that is something we take seriously — all team members are paid for their time and performance. If there is still an unresolved issue, we encourage you to reach out directly so we can ensure it’s handled promptly. We appreciate your perspective on turnover as well. Sales roles naturally have higher turnover across the industry, but we consistently review feedback and make improvements to support our team as best as possible. We wish you the very best in your future opportunities and appreciate the time you spent with Catalyst.
