Pros

Nice environment, that you enjoy but nothing more than that, if you are not interested for something more to expand your career.

Cons

They choose you, and usually call you to offer you work, but instead they tell you that you have to pay them for an IT exam (Microsoft, Adobe, CISCO and so on). If the exam is successful (see next what means successful for them) they hire you with much lower salary than the market's standards. Sometimes even by 10k less than a similar position in market's average. They give you very short time to prepare, and they don't even accept to have the test while being employed by them. In short, they need: To finance their daughter company examination centre, from government funds, you pay them a rich amount (400GBP) for the exams, that are non-refundable if you fail the exam, not only they ask you to pass the exam with the usual 700 credits that Microsoft considers "pass", BUT you are considered failed if you don't have an 80% success, and then they employ you on a filthy salary, while the management enjoys in rich salaries on your efforts. My suggestion is keep away and use your energy somewhere else.

Cons

Call a layoff what it is. It's public knowledge that revenue is down profits are down and headcount is going down. Saying recent offboarding was "performance-based" or “we had lofty expectations for this role” is total BS because you fired high performers. If it's a layoff, just call it what it is so people aren't scrambling to "perform higher" when things are naturally slow in a recession. Layoffs happen all the time. Makes management look cowardly to not admit that, and give half-baked reasons when you get a surprise call Thursday call.
