Pros

non demanding work, great night team

Cons

favoritism is major problem here, if your face fits with the senior management you can do no wrong, call in sick whenever and as often as you like, not do your job fully and when occasionally you do you'll be lavished with praise on the team whatsapp chat and be gifted with chocolates etc. if you work hard, the customer love you, you go way beyond the expectations of the guests and be mentioned by guests on public reviews but your face doesn't fit, you'll get little to no recognition or praise

Pros

some good colleagues, pleasant approach to resort

Cons

This is a totally clique based environment , it doesn't matter how hard you work, how thorough you are in your duties, how committed to your responsibilities you are or even if the members and guests like you, if you're not part of the all powerful clique you will never fit in, be valued, acknowledged or respected, You'll even be ignored by the HR department if you email or contact them, quite contrary to those that are favoured, who can pretty much do as little as possible, call in sick as often as they like etc. You'll be expected to cover extra shifts when the "favoured" call in sick regularly at the last minute, you'll be expected to be early for your shift and stay late without being paid for your time, you'll be expected to feel privileged to work for Champneys, but, it's ultimately a 3 star hotel with a leisure facility, gone are the days when it was purely a health and well-being destination. The new business model is allowing disruptive and problematic guests to book on a B&B basis, they are extending the serving of alcohol, but the management are not and have not prepared the infrastructure or taken seriously into account the potential for problems, disruption and aggression from the intoxicated new style guests. The management have been is position for a long time and think they are great, they do not take kindly to people with much more experience than themselves having any sort of opinion and will actively attack your personality traits to degrade and silence you. (this is illegal, it's called bullying or harassment). the pay is poor, the hours are long, the night team are considered the lowest of the low by the vast majority of the day staff. Watch out for a reply from Champneys denying everything I've written, this will be from one of the favoured and part of the clique.
