TOXIC!

Pros

Coffee is nice... other than that, nothing positive to say.

Cons

- Owned by Samsung, this agency wouldn't survive without them. - Constant flow of unimaginative, uninspiring work... delivered daily! - Demanding, unrealistic deadlines from a client you can't say no to as they OWN you! - Barely any permanent members of staff. Freelancers last about 3 months at most. Huge staff turnover makes it very unsettling. Just left with the bad eggs! - No internal processes, zero desire for change and outdated approach with the 'old guard' making life difficult. - Internal politics, favouritism/nepotism from management. 'Clickly' atmosphere. - Endless meetings to justify existence and micromanaging. - Rat infested building and Windows 95 laptops.

Pros

Cheap café offering fairly decent drinks in the office Met some great people Provides a decent addition to the CV (Samsung)

Cons

No clear sense of vision or planning Literally 0 opportunities for progression or development Lack of care regarding retention of staff Brutal paycuts in 2020, supposedly brought about by the pandemic Various consultants and directors on exorbitant salaries, financial incentive for those who actually deliver client work is minimal Non-existent training/onboarding programme for new starters Attempted to coerce people into working full-time from a different location miles away from the London office, without any consultation whatsoever Lack of transparency from HR team before taking on employment - was told that every member of staff is on a fixed-term contract, which is categorically not the case

Thank you for your feedback, it is a shame your experience with Cheil didn't meet the expectations we have for all our talent. As you say, we have fantastic people at Cheil and they are vital to all our success. We have set out a number of new measures to further improve our employee development programmes. Most crucially we have relaunched our performance management program to better support development and progression of our talent and we have rolled out a suite of training programs for all our managers. I understand the pay cuts last year were very tough for everyone and we thank everyone involved for their hard work getting us through it without having to make any redundancies during that period. We are glad that period of the pandemic is behind us as we focus on growth for the future. As a direct action to improve our two way communication with our employees and to improve the employee voice, led by HR, we have expanded our misconduct reporting app Vault, to include Suggestions for a Better Cheil, where we do provide opportunity for employees to suggest change they want to see and from there, we strive to action changes.

Thank you for taking the time to provide some feedback here. I'm genuinely sorry you have not enjoyed your time at Cheil. Myself and the HR team operate with a zero tolerance policy on any form of harassment and there are no exceptions. Anything raised would be dealt with immediately. To support the zero tolerance policy we have updated all our internal policies, conducted companywide bullying and harassment training and launched an anonymous reporting platform that enables anybody to report any form of bad behaviour directly to HR whether this is happening to them or they witness with another employee. It was implemented recently that this platform also enables suggestions on how we can improve Cheil and every quarter we review these with the agency and agree the areas we can action.
