The truth ...

Pros

Some very smart and talented folks work at Clear Measure. You can learn a lot from them if you are lucky enough to be put on a good project (those projects being few and far between, unfortunately, but do exist from time to time). I do fear these folks will leave, as did many of the talented employees before them once realizing the environment is not a great long-term fit.

Cons

Too many to list, but to sum up: The executives in top leadership positions. By overstepping their roles, micromanaging projects, and overestimating their engineering and technical prowess, the executives often times make a difficult or challenging situation much, much worse. And perhaps worst of all, when a project starts to spiral out-of-control, leadership point fingers back at their own people blaming them when, in reality, the origins of many problems are poor expectations set during initial engagements, and long before engineers are even involved in the process.

Fear Lives Here

Pros

Some great people work(ed) here. Awesome place to network and meet some good talent or make friends. Schedule is somewhat flexible depending on your role. Medical benefits are good.

Cons

Most employees live in fear of management. They make the "we're family" argument when hiring you, but you will quickly realize that isn't the case. The company will always choose the client over the employee, even if the client is verbally abusive and overly demanding. Engineers can be expected to work ridiculous hours for demanding clients with no extra pay. Salaries are below market to begin with. If you disagree with management's process or approach, your position will be at risk. The turnover rate is insanely high. I know 2-3 current employees who are happy.

Just don't..

Pros

A great team of engineers, although many have left now. The culture was initially strong, so there are still a few good things to enjoy. Foosball, company events, etc.

Cons

The company culture is at it's lowest ever. Many great people are gone, and those that remain have to deal with projects that leadership constantly under-estimates and over-promises. It's a classic death march to the bottom.

Thank you for taking the time to provide valuable feedback. It gives us insight. I’m very disappointed that we were not able to address your concerns before you left. We have doubled the company every year since inception, and that comes with growing pains. Some of the strategies adopted and started before you left have yielded great fruit, so we are sad you aren't here to see it. One of our core values is "excellence". This journey is never done, and we strive to be better today and tomorrow than we were yesterday. We continue to plan projects using a 40-hour work week because we know that our people stay sharp and rested with plenty of time with their families, hobbies, and time to keep up with what is happening in our dynamic industry. We wish you the very best in your future endeavors, and we would welcome you back if it's a better fit when we are several hundred employees rather than the current 50.
