Pros

Great technology and products, pay is decent, benefits are OK, retirement plan is questionable. They do their own design and manufacturing, which is nice because everything is done at the same place.

Cons

It is an unusual family-owned culture. The usual politics in a family-owned company seem to be multiplied. But the biggest caveat, is that they are an "at will" employer and will not hesitate to exploit this loophole. You can be let go without notice, and without reason -- it happened to somebody not far from my department. Watch yourself with this company.

Pros

Compunetix is a great place to work if you are in your mid-late thirties and have a family. They provide a relaxed work environment with good job security. A lot of the employees have been working there for 10+ years. You can ride this company out until you keel over if you want to. Overall, it's a nice place to work, but I can really only speak about software engineering. It's pretty laid back and they don't require too much of you. Also, they have free coffee -- it ain't the greatest, but I'm not about to turn away free.

Cons

Management does not have a firm grasp of the software development process. This is probably their biggest weakness. Most project managers know nothing about software, yet their projects are 95-100% software development efforts. If you are wondering how you can effectively manage a software project with absolutely no knowledge or understanding of the software development process, well.. you can't! They don't push their employees. Employees don't work very hard -- to the point where this is part of the culture. Employees are not pushed to learn and grow as software developers. Minimal effort is acceptable, and often preferred, even when it leads to larger, more time consuming problems in the long run.

Pros

If you want a stable job without innovation and want to be doing the same thing over and over everyday working on very old technology, this is the place for you.

Cons

Ideas come from top down and cannot be modified. Get rid of IBM Clearcase and Clearquest, what is wrong with you. Waterfall methodology practiced here ONLY. Compensation and Benefits are lame.
