Great Museum - Mediocre Leadership

Pros

Individuals are great to work with and adore the museum

Cons

There is no true leadership. Executive staff is rife with bullies and people entrenched in "this is how we've always done it." I have little trust for those who are supposed to be our leaders. I especially don't trust HR. Accounting has too much power to dictate tasks and schedules of people in other departments it works with.

Pros

Flexibility w/ schedule, no micro-managing, relaxed environment-good for those that are looking for a chill job. Good benefits and the actual museum is impressive- there are some brilliant minds behind this.

Cons

Not a lot of opportunities for advancement, or support in some roles. There are individuals in leadership positions that shouldn't be leading, due to the lack of knowledge in the field, and/or the lack of experience with managing people. Morale is low, a lot of employees feel unappreciated, and leadership does not motivate, support, or are they interested in helping people succeed-so there is a lack of drive here. Some employees have a minimal workload, and others take on multiple roles, so it is not balanced. Pay is very low for this area, even for a non-profit company.
