      Culture and Environment that lead its people to have phobic for work Openness for feedback and improvement is sorely lacking. Personal attack is disguise as feedback to employees with no constructive resolution provided for improvement. The emphasize is always on issues rather than resolution. If you are open and frank, you will get 'slapped' back with a bunch of questions and negative comments, and even be labelled negatively to colleagues across all departments.

      A company in a difficult position

      Pros

      Exposure to many different industries e.g. industrial chemicals and life sciences. Exposure to a wide variety of suppliers and customers. A broad and very Asian country footprint as Connell's focus is Asia. An ethical family owned company with over a hundred years of history.

      Cons

      An old styled chemical distribution company struggling to remain relevant in the market place and being overtaken by competitors. Connell is facing declining sales and profitability and high staff turnover. Most of their senior management team are not based in Asia and are trying to manage the business remotely. The vision for change is sound. However the senior management is struggling to execute the required organisational change.
