Pros

Competitive pay, good 401(k) match, great vacation and sick policy.

Cons

As much as the CEO and senior team don't want too admit it. It seems the culture is changing and not going in a positive direction. The company has gone in a negative direction with the introduction of the new CEO, Garrick Rochow. Patti Poppe was a better CEO. John Russell, before Patti was a better CEO. We're going through a Career Rewards and Framework change and its been a disaster. Nothing seems to have gone right with it. I'm sure it started off with good intentions, but the implementation has been terrible. It was supposed to help people better understand their roles and what's expected to advance at the company. It's done none of that. Based on what senior leadership is telling us is there will be room for career growth and advancement, but they're making it more difficult for everyone. How is there going to be more room for opportunities when there is a reduction in headcount? We recently went from 8,800 employees down to 8,400. The math doesn't work. Less positions means less opportunities.

Beware of the "new culture"

Pros

Good pay, benefits, and paid time off. Most middle managers are supportive, they encourage you to take your time off and unplug.

Cons

I was hired in during the pandemic. Right after that the previous CEO had told everyone that they could work remotely permanently and even out of state if they wanted. She parted ways with the company shortly after and the new CEO has a very old school mentality about everything. The push to go back to office started as a nudge and when that didn't work it became a mandate when we hit financial difficulties after the 2023 ice storm. There's a huge push to reduce costs and a big part of that is "lowering headcount through natural attrition." It just happens that part of that "natural attrition" was forcing people back to offices, some even offices they never reported to before or were not located near, and telling everyone if they didn't like it they could quit. Leadership wants us to do more with less but aren't putting us in a position to improve processes and build automation before the headcount starts lowering. The whole shift has turned the culture upside down and very few people seem happy. Everyone is stressed and fearing for their job.
