How to destroy a company culture inside 12-months

Pros

- Fully remote working which is attractive to some - Still a lot of good, talented people

Cons

- Chaotic, unimpressive leadership lacking clear direction which filters throughout the company - Almost constant change at senior leadership level, with big salaried hires coming on-board to fanfare, and then being ushered out the backdoor! - Unrealistic expectations of growth from owners who simply want to grow and sell the org - Awful internal communications and totally siloed teams environment - Moral of most employees close to or on the floor - even new starters quickly become dejected and/or jaded - Cost cutting to the max - letting lots of good, talented people go and leaving those still in place to figure out the rest as best as they can! - Practically zero opportunities for employees to be together F2F if they don't live close to one or two locations across the globe - So, no joined-up or collegiate sense working across the org

Such a quick decline

Pros

The people were amazing to work with across the whole company in every geo.

Cons

After the takeover of the company last year, there was an overnight change of values and company direction. When I joined there was a huge emphasis on the people in the business, and driving them to develop and succeed. This made the business a great place to work and be. However, all of that has been lost. People became resources and expendable instantly and the great community feel of the business was lost. Those who didn't agree or fit the new direction of the company were let go. It felt like the people making decisions had no idea of the impact of them, or really cared. Teams were outsourced pretty quickly with very little consideration of how to manage the handover process effectively. High level roles seemed to change weekly and new appointments at the highest level were the only noticeable "investment" from the new owners into the company. Certainly, no level or tangible benefit was felt in the rest of the company, in fact the opposite was true.

Pros

You get paid once per month.

Cons

Since we were acquired by Goldman Sachs and a private equity firm the culture and heart and guts are being ripped apart. 100s of lay offs in the last year. High level decisions made with no understanding of the impact. Teams laid off and outsourced to India - replaced by clueless robots making mistakes all over, whilst we are gaslit and told it's all going to plan. Lots of senior people being busy by building slide decks and planning org charts whilst sales team win no sales. The company is going down the drain. Those who have not been laid off are leaving. Those still here are either planning to leave or are in the CEOs "in crowd". Creativity is gone. Positivity is gone. A culture of fear or fitting in now exists. People vanish and are never spoken of again. Think twice before accepting a job here.
