Pros
It's federal service, so the work is secure and the agency is R&D funded, so you don't typically have to worry about sequestration when the rest of the Government shuts down.
Cons
If you are an Engineer, they will love you here. If not, prepare to be told you don't know anything. Despite appearances the majority of work is contracted out, not performed by employees. Workforce is promoted based on who you know, or what you are willing to comply with, not your experience or ability. Telework it not standard practice and only gets approved for certain people. Independent thinking will get you nowhere.
