Pros

Some of the most talented and driven architectural staff members I have had the privilege to work with. Working alongside individuals who respectfully pushed you to learn new things was amazing. I loved the variety of age groups you could find here. It made work exciting and fun.

Cons

The way certain higherups interact with their staff is inappropriate and unproductive. They can belittle you, make you feel worthless, especially when you're giving them 45+ hours a week doing two people's worth of work - all while paying you a below-average salary. When you proceed to discuss this with management, they don't seem to listen which ultimately led to the resignation of a handful of staff members including myself. DTJ has a "don't be an a--" policy which really drew me in. Unfortunately, that policy doesn't pertain to some staff members, and discipline isn't in DTJ's vocabulary. Cussing designers out for 'mistakes' project managers should have caught (our project manager quit in the middle of the project because of this dynamic), having relationships with subordinates disrupting the workplace, things that in my opinion are very inappropriate, yet.. nothing happens. Overall the Cons definitely outweighed the Pros in this firm's case and I would without a doubt stay away from this drama...

Pros

They are located in Boulder, Colorado.

Cons

This company’s business ethics is questionable at best. They overwork H1B employees and overemphasize their “cult”-ure which on the surface and for young new employees appears fun but once you work for them the toxic environment becomes quickly apparent. Managers do not have clear expectations and they are constantly in-fighting and pitting employees against one another. Management is very conservative but they try to give the impression of being progressive. They use phrases such as ‘pull yourself up by your bootstraps’ and ‘earn your tiger stripes’ to promote a work to death culture while paying employees terrible salaries and claiming the benefits, work culture and location are a part of the package. Gaslighting and overall poor treatment of employees is par. Financial management is a joke, and they mismanage projects and clients and the brunt of the consequences comes down on junior staff having to overwork.
