Pros

Remote work. Nice people for the most part. Fun programs for employees like a rewards system that your colleagues give out at their discretion and some contests. The owners are very nice and seem to be trying to constantly improve things.

Cons

Do not trust their employees. They treat them like criminals by constantly monitoring their every move. Micromanagement in the digital age; it’s borderline insane. They do not just track your time, work ethic and what you produce. They track your mouse and keyboard movement to get an activity percentage, they take multiple screenshots of your computer every 10 minutes (literally) of every hour of everyday. They monitor voice and video. Read messages and emails. This causes stress, anxiety and a feeling of distrust in the environment leading to a high turnover rate. Which is why I left. The days are smartly planned out to the tee; and add that to the monitoring software they use, you feel like you can’t even run to the kitchen and make coffee without getting dinged for 3 minutes of low activity. They don’t want to pay for a cent of time that you are not sitting there grinding away. I was even told to clock out if the mail carrier rang the doorbell. What happened to two 15 minute breaks in the work day?

Thank you for your feedback. We regret that aspects of your experience with DemandZEN fell short of your expectations and caused feelings of stress, anxiety, and distrust. While we strive to implement tools that enable us to run more effectively and efficiently as 100% remote company, we understand that monitoring can feel like micromanagement and “big brotherish”. Typically, we use monitoring resources as a way to dive deeper into issues, such as quality assurance for client campaigns or to help an employee who is struggling in a specific area. However, your feedback has led us to take a closer look at how we communicate and manage the use of such tools. We trust and believe in our employees, and it is important this is conveyed by our actions.

Pros

Remote work, company provides equipment.

Cons

Working at DemandZen under the leadership of its CEO (Lynn) was a nightmare that I wouldn't wish upon anyone. The CEO's incompetence and lack of regard for employees made every day a struggle. Firstly, the CEO displayed a shocking lack of leadership skills. They were more interested in boosting their ego than actually guiding the company in a positive direction. Decisions were made impulsively without considering the consequences for employees or the company's long-term success. Communication from the CEO always came from some form of manipulation. It seemed like the CEO was more interested in playing power games than fostering a transparent and collaborative work environment. The CEO's management style was toxic and demoralizing. They ruled through fear and intimidation, creating a culture of paranoia and stress. Additionally, the CEO's treatment of employees was appalling. They showed blatant favoritism towards certain individuals while disregarding the hard work and dedication of others. It felt like there was no opportunity for growth or recognition unless you were part of the CEO's inner circle. Furthermore, the CEO's disregard for ethical practices was deeply concerning. They would cut corners and bend rules without hesitation, putting both employees and the company's reputation at risk. In conclusion, working under the CEO's leadership at DemandZen was a soul-crushing experience. Their incompetence, lack of communication, and toxic management style created a hostile work environment where employees felt undervalued and disposable. I strongly advise anyone considering employment here to proceed with extreme caution.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at DemandZEN. We are deeply sorry to hear that your time with us was so challenging and distressing. It's clear from your feedback that we have significant areas for improvement in how we manage and lead our team. Firstly, we want to clarify that Lynn was our Chief Operating Officer, not the CEO, and she is no longer with DemandZEN. We understand, however, that this does not change the nature of your experience, and we are committed to addressing the issues you’ve raised, regardless of the personnel involved. Your description of the leadership style and the work environment is concerning. We strive to foster a transparent, inclusive, and supportive workplace, and it is evident that we fell short. We take allegations of manipulation, favoritism, and unethical behavior very seriously. As part of our commitment to our employees and the integrity of our operations, we are taking immediate steps to review and revise our management practices, including the addition of an anti-bullying policy. We also want to ensure that opportunities for growth and recognition are accessible to all our employees, not just a select few. We regret that you felt unable to share your suggestions with management previously, and we want to extend an invitation to all current and former employees to reach out with their feedback, which we assure you will not go unheard. We are dedicated to making DemandZEN a better place for everyone and rely on insights from our team to guide our improvements. Thank you again for your candid feedback. We apologize for the negative experiences you endured and are committed to making the necessary changes to ensure a healthier, more supportive work environment moving forward.

Pros

- Work Remotely - Send you a decent computer to use

Cons

- They manipulate employees with all this talk of being a family to make you ok with the low pay, long hours, and poor treatment - Pay is hourly, not salary, and is low - Management seem like bullies/used car salespeople - Super quick to fire people without notice - Boast having a 4.5 day work week which comes at the cost of working 10 hour days Monday - Thursday - Very disorganized. Never actually knew who my bosses were - Always talking about a wonderful company culture, which is really just forced participation in distracting slack channels - The leads the provide were garbage. I spent most of my days cleaning up bad data for people who had nothing to do with the product being sold. - Always talked about being a “family focused” company which came across as very discriminatory unless you are a heterosexual woman with kids - Micromanagers. Always listening to your calls and monitoring your mouse movements, and that’s what they admit to. I would suggest covering up your webcam when not in use and having a headset with a mute button to bypass the built in microphone. - Super strict about working your 40 hours. If you have to call off unexpectedly they force you to use your accrued PTO without your consent, and then make it seem like they’re doing you a favor.

Thank you for sharing your feedback about your experience at our company on Glassdoor. We appreciate your honesty and take all feedback seriously, as it helps us improve our workplace. We are sorry to hear that you had a negative experience during your time with us. However, we would like to address some of the concerns you raised, as they seem to be exaggerated and not entirely reflective of our company's practices. For example, 4.5 day work week does not reflect a need for four 10 hour days as you indicated. At our company, we strive to maintain a positive work environment where employees are valued and supported. We have established processes to address any issues or concerns that may arise, and we encourage open communication with management and HR to ensure that every employee's voice is heard and taken seriously. We regret that you felt unsupported in your role, but we would like to emphasize that we have dedicated resources in place to provide guidance and assistance to all employees. We value the well-being and growth of our team members and continuously work to create opportunities for professional development. If there are specific incidents or concerns that you would like us to address, we encourage you to reach out to our HR department to provide more details. We are committed to understanding and rectifying any issues that may have impacted your experience. Thank you again for your feedback.
