Toxic Work Environment

Pros

This company will provide you with a solid but low paycheck until the right opportunity presents itself. Do not stay long because you will make yourself vulnerable to stress illnessess and burn-out. There are also some wonderful employees with warm personalities at DG that make your time pleasant.

Cons

Diamond Game has extremely HIGH turnover rates due to severe hostility across departments and also between long-term employees vs the majority of new employees. I can only assume that this hostility is due to an unspoken sense of job insecurity at Diamond Game. There is culture of micromanaging tedious details that are irrelevant to the project or expected goal. The tech and development departments operate with small teams and there is a constant need for hiring/ recruiting. However, a few influential managers and VP prevent solid candidates from being hired with a long and drawn out interview process; unusual or fabricated tech jargon; intrusive personal questions; and low, low salary ranges.

Toxic Tech Department

Pros

DG has great benefits, great coworkers, and a good location which has good food options and you get to sit in an air-conditioned office.

Cons

As other reviews have mentioned, the tech department is poorly run. You're constantly being micro managed or undermined. Hostility between manager and subordinate (as well as between departments) is present and will wear away at your mental health very quickly. There is little to no documentation of systems, processes, or applications which is mind boggling for a department that has had the same director for 6+ years. There's very little regard for employee well-being, they have no problem calling you on a weekend and expecting you to do the work, but won't give you leniency if you need to come in late. Systems are outdated and have been poorly managed for years. They use third party services as bandaids when these issues can be rectified by letting your employees doing their jobs. Employees are leaving the company. These statements are true and valid and can be verified by previous employees who worked in the tech department and left.

Pros

There are some cool people there, but overall I wouldn't say that's enough of a pro to apply.

Cons

There are several people in the company, who, for lack of a better word, suck. There's a lot of "good ol' boys club" at the top of the company, and HR won't do anything about bad bosses. In fact, one director in the company has forced several great employees to leave, and had numerous complaints to HR, and guess who still works there? Honestly, don't waste your time. You won't move up in the company, the pay sucks, and who knows where the company actually is going, if anywhere.
