Unfortunate Leadership

Pros

- Worked with some incredible people who are all willing to put their heads down and accomplish the task at hand - Decent pay - Good benefits

Cons

- leadership at this company does not care what the average employee wants/needs or thinks. If you disagree with the direction the company is moving in, they'll tell you to leave. - Little work/life balance - Highly political in the sense that favoritism is rampant and that's the only way promotions, pay raises and opportunities happen - There was zero justification for the switch to mandatory 2x/week in office. Productivity did not decrease, there were no impacts on financial performance. They just don't want to lose their vice grip on employees. - Leadership will say one thing to your face and then turn around and say the opposite or use what you said in confidence against you.

Old-school mentality with ZERO culture

Pros

The pay is good and they are trying to make positive changes. Probably one of the safer bets for longer term job security. A number of new employees have recently joined the company, but I don't imagine they will stick around very long if some changes are not made.

Cons

Technology is dated and the company is not very progressive. Management is very top/down and not very open to collaboration. Your time is managed and can be micromanaged. Some directors, not all, are too focused on minor details and are not looking at the big picture. They promote heavily from within which is both a pro and a con. A number of people in positions due to seniority and less to do with skills and abilities.

Pros

DLC has a very competitive benefits package, and I have been hard pressed to find other companies willing to even come close to the salary/vacation offered here. In general, there are a ton of great people that work here, and they are what make the tough days more bearable. All in all, hybrid working options were nice, particularly through COVID.

Cons

More often than not, you will have a poor work-life balance. Employees are continually asked to do more with less, and the reward for doing a great job is even more work. You have a great vacation package, and you will struggle to find the time to actually use the days you are entitled to. There are a plethora off inefficiencies in the way the company conducts business, and its actually sickening (The company wastes large sums of money, and you grow numb to it over time). Additionally, the only constant at DLC is change- there is some form of large scale re-org at least twice a year. Unfortunately, there is little to no accountability when it comes to dealing with the Union. Any attempts at discipline result in grievances where the troubled party walk away with a slap on the wrist, at best.
