The environment requires a high degree of ownership and self-direction. Management is relatively non-hierarchical compared to more traditional companies, so there’s an expectation that you proactively ask for help, learn from mistakes, and figure things out as you go. That can be a great fit for people who like autonomy, but it may take adjustment if you’re coming from a more structured environment. There’s also an expectation that employees step outside their comfort zones and contribute wherever needed, which means complacency is not really an option.
Also, the people are unfortunately too enjoyable to spend time with, which may lead your friends and family to question why you voluntarily attend so many work-related social events.
