Class 1 tramper

Pros

Not stuck in an office, (a teacher once said to me that nobody would pay me to stare out of a window.... clearly that was wrong) 15pound meal allowance which tops up wages Good rate of pay, although could be better Some decent trucks, although as a tramper I get my own which is pretty good. There is no stress unless you make it stressful for yourself. ( why worry about traffic and running late when your getting paid) planners sort that out ; :) unless your on your way home then you burn some diesel :).

Cons

No coffee machine supplied in the trucks

Pros

Modern fleet of good trucks, full equipment, £15 daily meal allowance.

Cons

Sloppy planning (plans regularly change during shifts), miserable staff who blame you for everything, hugely variating start times, long and often heavily packed shifts with no fixed routes, 'every man for himself' mentality, you are just a number and prepare for most other lgv companies and depots to hate your guts. Have to ring up every day to find out what time i'm starting as they wont tell you otherwise (even though they're supposed to, i never get called or if i do get called its about an hour before im meant to start). Company is inundated with agency staff who never fill the trucks up before giving them to you and often get preference over stobarts staff with better routes and whilst they're doing the same job as you they'll get £2 an hour more money than you). Rates of pay are also low compared to other companies. Little or no room to move up.
