Communication. Sometimes I'm not sure if the people here has ever heard of the word, to be honest. A lot of times the people that need to know something are the last to know it, and sometimes by the time they hear it, it is either extremely short notice or too late.
There also isn't a lot of work-life balance. Part of this is due to understaffing where some departments only have one or two people in the department, and another part is just pure lack of consideration. Often times employees need to work overtime to finish or stay caught up, but they are not allowed to receive overtime pay. So the employee either doesn't finish the job that day, or they work for free.
As I said above, the people are the best part of this college, but they are also a big downfall to it. This place can get pretty toxic pretty quickly. Some supervisors have favorites and others can be absent. It's rare when someone takes accountability for themselves or hold others accountable. Blame often gets passed around.
Lastly, there are not a lot of opportunities for growth. Sometimes when someone quits, they don't refill the role. Instead, the job duties get distributed and is added onto the responsibilities of others, without an increase in pay (which is already low for the industry to start with) or job title. And sometimes, they purposefully do not change your job title to match your responsibilities because that would require them to increase your pay.
Overall, a recommendation to work here would be dependent on the person. Some people can really thrive here, and some will not be able to.
