Cons
I’d like to give an honest overview of 1901 Group. They are mostly a sub contractor for other major contracts with government agencies. That part sounds prestigious but don’t let them fool you. The negative reviews on here are as truthful as one can get without getting reprimanded legally by them. They force you to sign a contract stating you’ll never bad mouth them pretty much, so hopefully this review won’t disappear like the others have. When you’re there, you’re under the management of someone who will know 100 times less than you know. Raises are conducted based on popularity and who they feel will “go with the current flow of things.” Most of the time you’ll work your butt off and nothing will come of it. They do not celebrate successes, and if you do good, most of the time no one will know. It’s your typical call center job as far as metrics go, but they want you on the phone ALL THE TIME. There’s also NO training. You’re thrown to the wolves on your first day. I should know, I composed all the training myself. So you’re welcome for the few words docs you get when starting. The micromanagement is unreal, and they say they are ITIL certified, but no one I knew was, and I never was. There’s two locations, Blacksburg and Reston, but I never met anyone from Reston except HR. We never got to attend meetings, never knew what was going on until after it happened, and were constantly reprimanded for “doing our job” Essentially they want robots, and will try to mold you into one. If you’re looking for a place to advance, I can promise you it won’t happen here. They will promise over and over that it will happen, and then you’ll come in one morning and they’ve given the job to someone else. No interview, nothing.
