Pros

Let me start by saying that I have really enjoyed working at 561 Media. This is mostly thanks to all of the wonderful people who I get to work with on the daily. I actually look forward to coming into work and seeing everyone. All of the guys there are big jokesters and make it such a fun environment. They play a variety of great music (excluding POLKA). As the only female in the office, I was kind of nervous initially. I did not want to be paid less than my male coworkers, not taken seriously, or anything else that comes with being a woman in the workforce (sometimes). I did not experience any discrimination, was paid fairly, and enjoyed my time there. All of the guys are very genuine and caring people, they even offered to help me fix my car window one time when it was broken into. They take the extra step to make you feel comfortable and welcome in the workplace. Although it is a fun environment, everyone knows when it's time to buckle down and work. You will learn a lot more than you'd ever expect to about many different things, from design and development, to social media and ads. You will also learn the ins and outs of every client. It can be stressful at times, as there are deadlines to meet, demanding clients, and internal requirements. The good news is that no one will be micromanaging you, so you get to make your own schedule and do things in a way that makes sense to you. You will need to be a self-starter, flexible, and organized in order to succeed.

Cons

Communication This is a big internal issue. Sometimes I would ask a question in Slack and wouldn't get an answer at all. I understand that the manager is very busy, but it made things difficult when I had a pressing question about a client or their account, especially when I first started. The plus side of this is that if it was really an important matter, you can go over and ask in person if he wasn't in a meeting. At other times, you can ask a team member and they usually know or are able to help you. Workload I was brought on as a PPC manager and social media manager. This was fine at first, however, over time as we brought on new clients, and the workload grew, it became very difficult to juggle both. This was especially true when one of the clients we brought on took up most of my week, which left less time to do ads. Insurance Insurance is half covered by the company, but you still have to pay quite a bit. PTO/Flexibility/Work Remote The PTO is ok, but not great. They allow you to leave sometimes and make up the hours later. For example, if you come in an hour late due to a Dr's appointment, you can just make it up during that week. They don't really want to have employees work remotely, which is too bad, but understandable, but that would be a plus.

Pros

561Media was an amazing place to learn. High paced and energetic, with loads of opportunities to learn more about the marketing industry.

Cons

No healthcare or benefits. Heavy workload expectations. The management was a bit chauvinistic and unrealistic. The owners were also quite prone to volatility and mood changes.
