Pros

The residents are wonderful and I enjoyed my time working with them and supporting them. The paid training was a great bonus.

Cons

Poor flexibility for students (a strict requirement of 10 shifts a month). Sexual harassment issues were poorly resolved. High burnout and turnover rates for employees. I was not a Residential Supervisor, but my supervisor was burnt out to the point of illness and exhaustion because of the unrealistic mental, physical, and emotional workload. No breaks during 8 hour shifts.

Pros

I started at ACR to gain direct care experience for PA school and I am leaving with skills that I know will be unique to the PA field. I absolutely adore the residents I get to work with and I appreciate all the other resources that ACR has such as the internship program, mentorship program, and leadership opportunities all of which I have taken advantage of and benefited greatly from both professionally.

Cons

Burnout is a factor in any medical related field. ACR does a good job with resources for burnout when you access them.

Pros

Good for students/ internships, a lot of training before sending you into the home to work with residents. Loved building relationships with residents. Rewarding job

Cons

This job varies so much based on what house you are placed at. Most houses are medical, and some are behavioral. Sometimes I felt like I was in over my head during serious medical situations in homes when it was just myself and another staff working. there is a supervisor on call but its scary when they arent in the home with you.
